ResumoThe high-temperature mechanical properties of a powder metallurgically produced Ti–47Al–4(Nb, Mn, Cr, Si, B) (at.%) alloy characterized by a very fine and homogeneous near γ microstructure (d=0.9 μm) were studied in the temperature range of 890 to 1100 °C. The unique microstructure was accomplished by a special processing route. Gas atomized alloy powder was compacted by hot isostatic pressing and then forged at a relatively low temperature of 850 °C. The material exhibits superplastic properties at parameters which are attractive for technical applications. At 1000 °C a tensile elongation of 920% was achieved at a low level of cavitation.
