ResumoThe annihilation rate of positrons in helium gas is proportional to an effective electron number Z which is calculated using the positron scattering wave function obtained by Houston and Moiseiwitsch in 1967. The value Z = 4·61 is obtained and this may be compared with the experimental value Z similar, equals 3·9 obtained by Falk et al. in 1965.
