Resumo

Abstract The compounds MPuO 2 XO 4 · yH 2 O and M ′( PuO 2 XO 4 ) 2 · zH 2 O ( X ≡ P , As ; M ≡ H + , K + , Rb + , NH 4 4 ; M ' ≡ Ca 2+ , Sr 2+ ) were prepared and identified by X-ray crystallographic comparison with the corresponding uranium and neptunium compounds. The hydrogen compounds HPuO 2 PO 4 · yH 2 O and HPuO 2 AsO 4 ·2 − 3 H 2 O were obtained by treating PuO 3 · 2 H 2 O with aqueous solutions of H 3 PO 4 and H 3 AsO 4 respectively. KPuO 2 PO 4 · yH 2 O and NH 4 PuO 2 PO 4 · yH 2 O were prepared by precipitation from aqueous Pu(VI) solutions in weak HNO 3 with K 2 HPO 4 and (NH 4 ) 2 HPO 4 respectively. The arsenates were prepared by exchange of H + in the solid hydrogen compounds suspended in solutions of the respective alkali and alkaline earth chlorides. The role of the plutonyl phosphate compounds in the formation of non-extractable plutonium in the PUREX process is discussed.
