Resumo

The time has long passed, since Calvin took it for granted in his commentary on the Minor Prophets that it was Micah, and nobody else, who promises the restoration of the Church in our passage 1), without even considering any other possibility. In more recent times, however, the various scholars offered quite contradictory opinions with regard to the authenticity of Micah iv 1-4. Not only its eschatological prediction of everlasting peace and exaltation of Zion, which is at least strange after the preceding chapter, but also the phenomenon that it appears partly again in Isaiah ii 2-4 have led to different conclusions.
