We present a case of an 11-year-old African-American girl with active lupus nephritis and necrotizing vasculitis limited to the kidney. These biopsy findings reveal important new information regarding the role of immune complex deposits in the renal vasculitis lesion and open new avenues for speculations regarding possible mechanisms involved.
