European imigration to Brazil is recent for it dates from the 19th century. From then on European names began to appear in specific areas of Brazilian toponymy through a process that is linked directly to determinating terms. The present article intands, among other things, to view those toponyms of a German and Italian origin in the states of the South of the country, analysing also their toponymic nature.
