ResumoThe fine structures of the oxygen K-edge in the Tl 1 Ba 2 Ca n -1 Cu n O 2 n +3 with single Tl-O layers were investigated by electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). The peak corresponding to the hole state near the Fermi energy was sensitive to the number of Cu-O layers and the direction of momentum excitation. It was shown that the hole content in Tl 1 Ba 2 Ca n -1 Cu n O 2 n +3 decreases with the increase of n ( n =2–4) and that most holes exist in the O 2p x , y orbitals of 2-dimensional Cu-O planes.
