Resumo

An optically pure specimen of levo-diacetylphenylephrine has been prepared. This substance has served as a basis for subsequent measure of the resistance of l phenylephrine hydrochloride toward racemization when multiple autoclaved, and when refluxed at two pH levels. The effect of time vs. stereochemical stability, in commercial l-phenylephrine hydrochloride formulas, has likewise been considered.
