Resumo

Abstract 1. 1. Stimulation of the isolated plaice stomach via the right vagus nerve or transmurally caused an immediate large longitudinal contraction followed by a small relaxation. 2. 2. Response size varied with voltage and frequency of stimulation. 3. 3. Responses were abolished by atropine and were reduced by hexamethonium at physiological concentrations and piperoxane and propranolol at high doses. 4. 4. Excitatory vagal innervation of the plaice stomach, acting largely through muscarinic cholinergic receptors, was postulated.
