ResumoA model is proposed to estimate the solar radiation parameters (global and diffuse solar radiation) by making use of ambient temperature. In this respect, experimental solar data which were measured in Gebze, Turkey, during 1990–1992, in terms of global and diffuse radiation were correlated with the respective ambient temperatures. It has been found that there is a strong relation between the ambient temperature and the solar radiation parameters. The solar parameters belonging to the 1990–1992 period estimated by this method were in good agreement (regression coefficients over 0.95) with the actual measured data in the same period. The present model was found to be capable of estimating solar parameters for the future as well.
