ResumoSURGICAL correction of complications arising from Curling's ulcer in children has rarely been reported. We have been able to find only six acceptable reports of surgery in such cases. The earliest was Regenbrecht's 1 description in 1959 of closure of a perforated gastric ulcer 18 days following extensive body burns. The child died of bronchopneumonia on the 18th postoperative day. In 1960, Lasserre et al 2 reported a case of a 6 1/2-year-old girl who underwent partial duodenal resection and gastrojejunostomy for a bleeding Curling's ulcer located in the duodenum. The child lived and is believed to be the first survival documented in the literature. The second survival was reported by Leix and Greaney in 1963. 3 Their patient was a 2-year-old girl who underwent surgery for hemorrhage and perforation.
