Resumo

AbstractThis article discusses the similarities between 16th century Anabaptist spirituality and 20th century Pentecostalism. Spiritual Biblicists, tongues-speakers and prophets, these radical reformers were countercultural separatists who possesssed an ethos very similar to modern Pentecostals but did not flourish as the 20th century movement did. NotesAn edited version of this article was initially read at the Sixteenth Centuries Studies Conference in Atlanta, Ga. Anabaptist Spirituality session on October 21, 2005.
