ResumoAbstract The TRON (the realtime operating system nucleus) project to design a new computer system for the 1990s began in 1984. The TRON computer architecture for the 1990s is intended to support the use of personal computers as communication machines and many ‘intelligent objects’ hooked into an HFDS (highly functional distributed system). To support various application needs, four operating system specifications are being designed: ITRON, BTRON, CTRON and MTRON. The project has also designed the TRON VLSI CPU-specification, 32- and 64-bit microprocessor chip. The system being designed will be used to form HFDSs that can act as global networks with data in different languages being passed freely.
