Resumo

A new genus and species of tanaidacean, Scoloura phillipsi (family Anarthruridae Lang, 1971: subfamily Akanthophoreinae Sieg, 1986) is described from Santa Monica Bay and Santa Maria Basin, California, and Coronado Island, Mexico. The new genus is distinguished from confamilial genera by the presence of a pair of large ventrolateral triangular processes on the pleotelson. Also, Tanaopsis cadieni n. sp. is described from Santa Maria Basin south to San Diego County, California. A key to the species of Tanaopsis is provided to help identify the known females and males of this genus. The males of T. cadieni cannot be distinguished from those of T. antarctica Lang, 1967 and T. curta Kudinova-Pasternak, 1984 until more detailed descriptions of the latter two species are done.
