O presente traballo examina a importancia dos factores socioculturais e tecnolóxicos na esfera da variación lingüística. Así, fronte a focaxes de estudo máis clásicas, en que se concede unha maior atención a criterios de tipo cronolóxico ou xeográfico, aquí analízanse as implicacións que as transformacións de carácter sociolóxico, relacional e tecnolóxico presentan no estudo das linguas e, en particular, do galego. Este estudo favorecerá, por una parte, reflectir sobre o variacionismo lingüístico e ampliar as perspectivas desde as que nos aproximarmos deste fenómeno e, por outra parte, coadxuvará a verificar a natureza social e a vitalidade das linguas, que mudan para se adaptaren aos novos contextos de uso e ás necesidades dos seus utentes.The present paper examines the importance of socio-cultural and technological factors in the area of linguistic variation. Thus, compared to the classical approaches, which give more attention to chronological or geographical criteria, this article examines the implications that the transformations of a sociological, relational and technological nature have in the study of languages and, particularly, of Galician. This study will allow, on the one hand, to reflect on language variationism and broaden the perspectives from which to approach this phenomenon and, on the other hand, to verify the social nature and the vitality of the languages, which change in order to adapt to new contexts of use and to the needs of its speakers.
