ResumoA comparison betwen N.E.M.I and W.I.S.C, and a factorial analysis of W.I.S.C. are made on a population of 122 children aged 8 to 12. The correlation betwen N.E.M.I and the performance scale of the W.I.S.C. is pratically the same as with the verbal scale. On the other hand one observes that environement determinants have an identical influence on N.E.M.I, V.Q. and P.Q. of W.I.S.C. A factorial analysis of the W.I.S.C. does not corroborate the verbal/ performance dichotomy. The first factor is a general factor which accounts for 39 % of the variance. A second factor is relatively slight (11 %) and may be interpretated as the verbal/ performance dimension of the W.I.S.C. However, Wechsler's classical dichotomy may be found in a few subjects having presented speech retardation or disorders. Discussion of the concept of factor, and the factorial composition of a test.
