Resumo

In metallic glasses with magnetostriction λ > 0 a planar compression is responsible for the so called “stress pattern” domain configuration. The principal values and the orientation of the stress tensor have been measured for different types of stress patterns using tensile stress and twisting experiment |1|. The results achieved for an as-quenched ribbon are compared with those for a ribbon with high permeability resulting from a heat treatment in a field perpendicular to the sample surface. In addition the measurements are compared with some domain models.
