Resumo

Carbon dioxide has become an important environmentally safe solvent for chemical processing, but many biomolecules are insoluble in it. In his Perspective, Beckman describes work reported in this issue of Science by Johnston et al. (p. 624) in which a fluoroether surfactant was used to create micelles—little pockets of water that contain the biomolecules—that are soluble in CO 2 .
