Resumo

β-Si3N4 nano-fibers with diameters of about 60–400 nm were fabricated through a combustion synthetic route. These fibers have straight, twisted, and curved morphologies. X-Ray powder diffraction pattern and the selected area electron diffraction spots confirmed the β-Si3N4 phase for these fibers. A droplet at the tip of a fiber was found and aluminium impurity was detected on the droplet, which demonstrates the Vapor–Liquid–Solid (VLS) mechanism.
