Abstract The liquid miscibility gaps in the ternary systems water‐urea‐n‐valeric add and water‐urea‐2‐methyl butyric add respectively are determined at 25° C. The heats of mixing of n‐butyric add and of isobutyric acid with an equimolar amount of water and with a concentrated solution of urea in water are determined. No significant difference in the behaviour of branched and unbranched adds towards urea in solution is observed, contrary to former statements.
