ResumoTechnics for repeated hemodynamic measurements of the neonatal puppy have been presented. Although the adult dog invariably survives a 35 per cent hemorrhage, there is a high mortality in the newborn puppy. The neonatal hemodynamic response to hemorrhage includes bradycardia, systemic hypotension, a great fall in cardiac output, a sharp rise in systemic resistance, and the frequent appearance of right to left shunts.
