Resumo

An electron microscopic study of the salt-glands in the sea-gull (Larus marinus) and petrel (Oceanodroma leucorrhoa) demonstrates extensive infoldings of the cell membranes which are continuous from base to apex of the cell. It is suggested that the membranes may be continuously produced at the bases of the cells and resorbed at the apices and that membrane movement may be involved in the secretory process.
