ResumoTHE purposes of the academic health center are to educate tomorrow's health professionals, conduct clinical and basic research, and provide patients with care at a level of technological sophistication usually unavailable in community-based institutions. This broad agenda makes the academic health center particularly vulnerable to potential litigation.
