Esthiomene is a remarkable syndrome encountered in lymphogranuloma venereum, consisting of ulceration and elephantiasis of the vulval and perianal skin. 1 The following is a case report in which the etiology was nonvenereal. Report of a Case A 33-year-old white housewife with chronic lymphatic leukemia was admitted to the hospital with painful vulval swelling and ulceration of 3 months' duration. Three years previously she had developed leukemia, characterized by cervical node enlargement progressing to generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and anemia. She was treated at the Boston City Hospital with courses of mechlorethamine, chlorambucil, and, prior to her present illness, with deep x-ray to the hepatic and splenic areas. Treatment was concluded about one month prior to her present difficulty. At that time she was troubled by a recurrence of vaginal pruritus which had been present one year before and had been treated successfully with trichomonal antagonists. Repetition of that program failed
