ResumoNew coagulase-negative staphylococci were isolated from fermented fish in Thailand. These organisms were differentiated from other Staphylococcus species on the basis of DNA relatedness and biochemical characteristics. Staphylococcus piscifermentans sp. nov. is described, and the type strain is strain SK03 (= NRIC 1817 = JCM 6057 = TISTR 824).
