ResumoRecent experimental investigations of the relationship between environmental heat, body temperature and behaviour are briefly reviewed and an explanation of the findings is postulated using the concept of "arousal." Supporting evidence is drawn from neurophysiological studies on animals and field observations of people living under tropical conditions.
