ResumoMany conditions adversely affect the delicate balance between the maintenance of blood flow and the ability to form localized clots to limit blood loss following damage to vessel walls. The diagnosis of disorders of haemostasis is usually suggested by the history and examination, and confirmed by appropriately chosen laboratory tests. Acquired conditions are more commonly encountered in clinical practice than inherited diseases.
