Resumo

A new variety of fine frequency structure in Pc 1 geomagnetic pulsations is described. The structure consists of chevron‐shaped tones which, in the examples observed, have their vertices directed either all to the right or all to the left in the spectrograms of a particular pulsations event. The observations of the chevron‐structured events were made at Roberval, Quebec (L ˜ 4; geomagnetic latitude 60°). They appear to be a high‐latitude phenomenon, because no such events have been observed at Stanford, California (L ˜ 2; geomagnetic latitude 43.5°).
