Resumo

The oxidation of N-methylalkylamides in alcohols was studied at platinum and carbon anodes using quaternary ammonium nitrates and fluoborates as supporting electrolytes. The most satisfactory conditions for the preparation of N-alkoxymethylalkylamides by this reaction involved the use of a platinum anode and a quaternary ammonium fluoborate. At a carbon anode, the major reaction is oxidation of the alcohol solvent to aldehyde, which is isolated as the acetal.
