Resumo

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) can be immobilized on epitaxial gold surfaces treated with 2-dimethylaminoethanethiol preventing removal of the molecules due to forces exerted by the scanning tunneling microscope probe tip. We present reproducible images of entire plasmid molecules on these surfaces and discuss differences in image contrast that we have observed.
