Resumo

THE field of oncogenic virology has made significant advances in the past decade. A number of factors have been responsible for these advances. In the first place, several new oncogenic viruses have been isolated and their properties investigated; some of these viruses are of primate, including human, origin. Secondly, improvements in technics for growing and characterizing animal cells in vitro have permitted the examination of viral oncogenesis at the cellular level.
