Resumo

Abstract A wide-ranging study of innovative local library, museum and archive services across and beyond Europe resulted in the development of a new model of local cultural services from a user perspective. This model is presented here, followed by an analysis of the implications for research and development across these sectors. The work, part of the Cultural Applications: Local Institutions Mediating Electronic Resources (CALIMERA) Action, was funded by the European Commission and involved partners in 42 different countries. Acknowledgements We would wish to acknowledge the contributions of all members of the CALIMERA consortium, without whom this work could not have been attempted. Notes 1.
