The Raman spectra of CF3SCF3, CF3S(O)CF3 and CF3SSCF3

Resumo

Abstract The liquid phase Raman spectra of CF 3 SCF 3 , CF 3 SSCF 3 and CF 3 S(O)CF 3 are reported in the region 2000-0 cm −1 . Supplementary infrared data of the gaseous compounds are also re-examined in the region 2000-400 cm −1 . Assignments for the normal modes of vibration are made on the basis of the previously reported symmetries of C 2v and C 2 for CF 3 SCF 3 and CF 3 SSCF 3 , respectively, and an assumed C 3 symmetry for CF 3 S(O)CF 3 . Strong evidence for the basic structure of the latter is obtained from depolarization measurements and a comparative vibrational study of all three molecules.
