Resumo“Canada's first” electrodialysis reversal water treatment system was commissioned in June 1990. For thirty years the City of Melville, a small community of approximately 5200 in southeastern Saskatchewan, has always had an abundant quantity of poor quality water. The water source is a well some 100 metres deep, which had to be abandoned in the early 1960s because of iron and manganese contamination and corrosion of the well casing. In the late 1980s it was found that electrodialysis reversal could be used for treating this high conductivity water.
