Resumo

An in sity study of the intercalation of potassium vapour into H.O.P.G. has been carried out covering the initial stages right up to the fully saturated G.I.C. This study shows that the c-axis resistivity during intercalation goes through a maximum at ∼ 10th stage, then decreases to the low value of the 1st stage compound. The 4.2 – 290 K behaviour of weakly doped products is similar to that of graphite. First stage samples show transitions at temperatures higher than ambient, some of which can be linked to structural ordering.
