Resumo

Recent literature suggests that the dangers of Distalgesic, a commonly prescribed drug, outweigh its analgesic properties. In this study Distalgesic and Brufen were compared double-blind in 50 patients following unilateral third molar extractions. No significant differences were found for degree of post-operative pain relief, but trismus was significantly less in the Brufen group at three days post-operatively and significantly more side effects were reported with Distalgesic therapy. Brufen is proposed as a safe and superior alternative to Distalgesic following oral surgical procedures.
