ResumoAbstract This case report describes a mandibular molar with a C‐shaped canal. Radiographically, the tooth had a normal morphological appearance with 2 distinct and separate roots. However, the pulp chamber door had only 2 root canal orifices, a mesiolingual orifice and a buccal C‐shaped trough that was continuous from the normal location of the mesiobuceal canal to the location of the distal canal. The trough was extensive and persisted along the entire length and width of the C‐shaped root canal. During endodontic treatment of the tooth, it became evident that the C‐shaped canal bifurcated into a mesiobuceal and a distal canal in the apical 2 mm of the root. It appears that this case demonstrates the morphological pattern of the true C‐shaped canal.
