ResumoThis paper analyzes the conflicts characterizing the context of political radicalization in Brazil, in the 1930s, and their subjective consequences on intellectuals linked to Catholic thought.Grounded on the intellectual dialogues between Fidelino de Figueiredo, a Portuguese historian and literary critic who lived in Brazil between 1938 and 1951, and Jonathas Serrano, a professor and author of history manuals from that same period, it shows the perplexity and hesitation feelings of both intellectuals.
