Resumo

The academic environment has link with loads of people and their activities result in the generation of solid waste, proper management is necessary because its mishandling leads to environmental problems and public health.This study aimed to diagnose the management of solid waste generated in the food court of the Campus II of the University of Oeste Paulista in Presidente Prudente -SP.The procedure adopted was to identify the current management system and characterization of solid waste, analyzing them quantitatively and qualitatively.The analyzes were conducted for a week for the months of June, July and August, with daily weighing and characterization twice weekly for analysis of its gravity.The results found that solid waste generation varied according to the flow of Colloquium Exactarum, v. 6, n.3, Set-Out.2014, p.105 -121.
