ResumoIntumescent or hypermature cataracts sometimes mean a difficult capsulorhexis. High frequency capsulotomy represents a satisfying solution for this problem.26 patients with intumescent cataracts undergoing cataract surgery with high frequency capsulotomy were enclosed into this study. Clinical application of this technique was examined intraoperatively and postoperatively.Only in 4 patients out of 26 it was not possible to achieve a circular cut by capsulotomy. Residual bridges could be cut by scissors.High frequency capsulotomy means a convenient alternative to capsulorhexis, while correct technique intraoperatively is extremely important for satisfying clinical results.
