ResumoThe confined optical modes in photonic dots have been studied by angle-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy. The photon modes have no dispersion in the cavity plane due to their three-dimensional confinement. The emission intensity from each mode depends strongly on the detection angle. From the angle dependence of the photoluminescence the distribution of the electromagnetic field in the dot plane can be obtained. The experimental findings are in good agreement with theoretical calculations.
