ResumoBathsua Makin's maiden name was not Pell, as scholars have supposed, but Reginald. That identification provides fuller information about this seventeenth-century feminist: one can identify her husband and children, a book she published when she was only sixteen, and her personal connection to Comenius. These new findings suggest that her life and work are more significant than previously realized.
