Resumo

Previous whirling hot-wire anemometers have relied on slip rings to connect the sensor to the bridge circuit. An alternative arrangement is described where a low power consumption anemometer circuit rotates with the hot wire, with direct connection to the sensor. The bridge output signal is transmitted optically by an LED to a fixed receiver, decoded and then processed normally. The system is tested in a simple experiment with homogeneous grid turbulence. The design may also be useful for remote anemometry.
