ResumoJeff Hawkins, creator of Palm, reckons he has key to a true thinking machine. Hawkin's unified brain theory applies idea that the cortex is not 100 algorithms solving 100 problems, but one algorithm applied to many problems to memory prediction framework. Hawkins identifies four elements that lie behind structure of neocortex. His four rules of neocortex are that neocortex: stores sequences of patterns; recalls patterns auto-associatively - it compares them against memories and themselves; stores patterns in an invariant form; and stores patterns in hierarchy.
