ResumoThe oxidation of mesoxalic acid on polycrystalline platinum electrodes in the presence of group V metals has been studied in an acidic medium. The inhibition effects of As and Sb and the catalytic effect of Bi have been interpreted taking into account the blocking effect and potential range of adatom redissolution. The possibility of adsorbing oxygen atoms and of modifying the platinum surface structure have also been considered.
