ResumoIn sexually reproducing organisms, homologus recombination increases genetic diversity in gametes and ensures proper chromosome segregation. Recent publications have provided details of the molecular intermediates and proteins involved, the control of the distribution of recombination events at the chromosomal level, and the surveillance mechanisms that coordinate recombination with the meiotic cell cycle.
