Resumo

Charge carrier injection into insulators is described by diffusion in the potential due to the image charge and the applied electric field. Generation of thermalized charge carriers is allowed for at the interface and in the bulk. The recombination velocity is introduced explicitly into the model. Comparison with experiments shows that holes are generated in a thermalized state at the uppermost molecular layer of aromatic hydrocarbon crystals when created by redox ions, excited dye molecules, and at metal contacts in the dark.
