Resumo

A cesium cell is built for optical absorption measurements in the dense vapor phase. The cesium layer, 10 μm thick and heated up to 1500°C, is created in a niobium tube between the ends of two long sapphire rods. The whole is pressurized with purified argon up to 110 bar, in a high-pressure vessel with optical windows. A very high efficiency thermal insulation prevents anomalous heating of the high-pressure vessel walls. Typical measurements results are presented and a further use of this cell is suggested.
