Abstract In preparation for an NCATE accreditation visit, the education faculty at Eastern New Mexico University chose to use educational platforms as means to develop the unit's conceptual framework. Education platforms are statements about personal beliefs and values about education. Each faculty member developed a personal platform. Faculty members in each curricular area discussed their individual platforms and synthesized them into one curricular area platform. All of the unit faculty met to discuss similarities and differences in curricular area platforms with the goal of discovering commonalities in beliefs and practices with which all faculty members could agree. The resultant unit educational platform became the basis for the unit's conceptual framework, which reflects diversity of thought and practice and became the basis for program and student evaluation.
