ResumoJacques Chirac : a leader without resources The various currents present in the RPR are expressions of a reorganization of the rules of infra-party competition. What positions and what resources are available to J. Chirac to enable him to preserve his leadership in the Gaullist movement ? To answer that question implies an analysis of Chirac's variety of political capital, of the conditions of its emergence and its shaping. An examination of the first years of J. Chirac's "power " over the UDR and the RPR clarifies the transactions from which he derives his authority.
